Publishing Policies

Publishing Policies

Discover STM Publishing Ltd is a publishing company that hosts journals on behalf of other organizations. The publishing policies for these journals are described below and their common editorial policies can be found here.

Access to articles

All articles within journals published by Discover STM Publishing Ltd are available open access under a Creative Commons CC BY licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) and not behind a subscription barrier.

This means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) ( https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/ )definition of open access.

Authors typically retain copyright, granting the journal publication rights under the CC BY license, but some journals or societies may ask for copyright to be transferred. Please refer to the specific journal for further information.

Business model

All Discover STM Publishing Ltd journals are funded by their parent organization and, unless indicated otherwise, without charge to either readers or authors.

Currently, Article Processing Charges (APCs) are sponsored by the society or organization that owns the journal title. In case the parent organization decides to start charging authors, Discover STM Publishing Ltd will ensure that the APCs, and any other charges, are clearly mentioned on the respective website and communicated to all stakeholders, including the society, institution, and title owner.

In this event, Discover STM Publishing Ltd will refund an APC if an error on our part has resulted in a failure to publish an article under the open access terms selected by the authors. This may include failure to make an article openly available on the journal platform or publication of an article under a different license from that selected by the authors. A refund will only be offered if these errors have not been corrected within 30 days of publication.

APCs will not be refunded when articles are retracted or withdrawn as a result of author error or misconduct.

Discover STM Publishing Ltd will not make refunds on behalf of participating societies or organizations if payments were received by these partners.

Unless otherwise indicated, our journals do not accept advertising.

Abstracting and indexing

Discover STM Publishing Ltd believes in quick dissemination of information to discovery services and content aggregators. The journal websites are made available to all major search engines, including Google Scholar. In addition, we seek to have all our journals included in quality-assured indexes such as DOAJ, Scopus, Medline and Web of Science. Each journal website indicates the indexes and discovery services in which it is included.

Discover STM Publishing Ltd is a member of Crossref, enabling us to assign digital object identifiers (DOIs) to all the articles we publish.

Digital Preservation

Discover STM Publishing Ltd ensures that all the articles we publish are preserved in independent repositories. If the publisher goes out of business, or the parent organization ceases to operate one of our journals, access to the published articles is guaranteed to continue via digital preservation archives.

Currently, all publications are archived with Portico.
