Publishing Policies
Discover STM Publishing Ltd is a publishing company that hosts journals on behalf of other organizations. The publishing policies for these journals are described below and their common editorial policies can be found on the Editorial Policies page.
Eight of the nine journals we publish or host are open access: the European Journal of Medical Case Reports (EJMCR), the International Journal of Medicine in Developing Countries (IJMDC), the Saudi Journal of Emergency Medicine, the Journal of Preventive and Population Health, the Journal of Biochemical and Clinical Genetics, Annals of Middle Eastern Medicine, the Pakistan Journal of Nuclear Medicine and BioMedica.
Their articles are free to read, with no subscription and no charge to the reader or their institution. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking permission from the publisher or the author. This follows the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of open access. Each journal states the licence that applies, such as Creative Commons CC BY 4.0, on its website and on each article.
The Sudanese Journal of Paediatrics is free access. All its articles are free to read and download, with no subscription or charge, but they are not published under an open licence, so reuse beyond reading and downloading is subject to the journal's copyright terms.
Authors typically retain copyright, granting the journal publication rights under an open licence, but some journals or societies may ask for copyright to be transferred. Please refer to the specific journal for further information.
Discover STM Publishing Ltd publishes and hosts journals operating under different funding models. Some journals are financially supported by their parent society, institution or organization and do not charge authors an Article Processing Charge (APC), while other journals require authors to pay an APC.
Where an APC or any other publication charge applies, the amount and relevant conditions must be clearly stated on the respective journal’s website. Authors should refer to the individual journal’s information before submission.
Discover STM Publishing Ltd does not collect APCs. Where a journal charges an APC, the journal collects it directly, and any question about an APC or a refund should go to the journal. Payments made to Discover STM Publishing Ltd are covered by our Refund Policy.
Unless otherwise indicated, our journals do not accept advertising.
Discover STM Publishing Ltd believes in quick dissemination of information to discovery services and content aggregators. The journal websites are made available to all major search engines, including Google Scholar. In addition, we seek to have all our journals included in quality-assured indexes such as DOAJ, Scopus, Medline and Web of Science. Each journal website indicates the indexes and discovery services in which it is included.
Discover STM Publishing Ltd is a Crossref member and assigns digital object identifiers (DOIs) to published articles where applicable.
Discover STM Publishing Ltd arranges for digital preservation of journal content through independent archives. Access to preserved articles is subject to the coverage and terms of the applicable preservation arrangement.
Eight of the nine journals we publish or host are archived with Portico. The Journal of Preventive and Population Health, a new journal, will be added once its ISSN is registered.
Neither the publisher, the journal editors, nor their parent organizations can be held responsible for any errors in journal articles or the outcome of any use of the published content. The articles published in Discover STM Publishing Ltd journals represent the views of the authors and should not be assumed to represent the views of the editors, their parent organizations, or Discover STM Publishing Ltd. Authors are required to sign a warranty regarding the content of their articles, which are published in good faith. Discover STM Publishing Ltd cannot be held responsible for any libellous or otherwise illegal content in these articles and publication of articles does not imply endorsement of any views contained therein. However, if any illegal content is discovered, we will remove these articles from the website.
